According to Latino Review and MovieWeb, Sylvester Stallone has signed on play a role in theQuentin Tarantino action-war piece, Inglorious Bastards. Tarantino has been working on the script for the film for sometime, and has talked openly about it being his next project.
According to reports, the movie revolves around a group of soldiers on their way to be executed, only they get the chance for a reprieval, by heading into a perilous no-man’s land of Nazi-occupied France on a suicide mission for the Allies. Tarantino describes them as “Not your normal hero types that are thrown into a big deal in World War II.”
Apparently, Tarantino had asked Sly to play a small role in Grind House, but the actor was busy with Rocky Balboa at the time, but promised to do something in Inglorious Bastards. The film is set for a 2008 release. Other stars include Michael Madsen as a character named Babe Buchinsky, and Tim Roth.
Other projects on Rocky’s plate include Rambo IV: Pearl of the Cobra, in which Rambo, after living a secluded lifestyle in Bangkok, is called to action yet again, when a group of volunteer aid workers disappear, and a relative of one of the missing begs Rambo to find them, along with a small team of aspiring heroes. He is also scheduled to helm the sequel.
Stallone is also set to star in and direct a film called Notorious, revolving around the deaths of rappers Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur, and the L.A. Police Department corruption scandal that lurks beneath the story. Stallone will play LAPD detective Russell Poole, who was a key figure in exposing the corruption in the LAPD’s Rampart division. His version of events were key to theories that say Biggie and Tupac were killed as part of a gang/police/rap power triangle.
