Warners to release action film The Butcher in European markets

Warner Bros. has finalized a deal with World Films, a genre film label that specializes in action films, to release the film The Butcher, in northwest Europe in spring 2009.

The Butcher, written and directed by Jesse Johnson, tells the story of ex-prize fighter turned mob enforcer, Merle Hench, whose lifelong bad luck streak turns on a dime when he gets the girl, the cash and his redemption — all for a price. The film is led by Academy Award and Golden Globe nominated Eric Roberts.

The Butcher also features Robert Davi, Keith David, Finnish actress Irina Bjorklund and Michael Ironside.

In addition to the Warner Bros release of The Butcher in Benelux, the film is also being distributed globally by 20th Century Fox in Australia in March 2009 and Metrodome throughout the United Kingdom in spring 2009.
