Retail exclusives for Indy’s Crystal Skull includes Sideshow quality work |

Today, Lucasfilm and Paramount released the worldwide box office blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull on DVD and Blu-ray. With this release comes five fun and collectible retail exclusives. The highlight of these collectible goodies, is a replica of the crystal skull itself, from noted figure and memorabilia company Sideshow Collectibles, which is available at Best Buy.

I hope the studios make a habit of creating value-added bonuses like this for their DVD and Blu-rays. I was personally turned off when companies stopped including those beautifully designed booklets that they used to include in most DVDs of larger films. They contained a wealth of information about the included project, and added something to the ownership value of the DVD, as a more than just a product, but almost made you feel you were getting a piece of film history. It didn’t stop me from getting DVDs I wanted completely, but it wasn’t nearly as exciting as it was previously.
