According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has picked up a spec script by Shane Salerno (AVPR: Aliens vs Predator: Requiem) titled the Doomsday Protocol.
Plot details are secret, but it is said to be an epic sci-fi adventure, in the vein of The Seven Samurai, involving a group of aliens and humans with various abilities, brought together to save the planet Earth.
Film Fetish Trivia: Shane Salerno wrote a script for the forever-in-development remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson hit film The Mechanic, originally about a contract killer who takes a protege under his wing (Jan Michael Vincent), and totally re-imagined the story as a spy thriller in a post 9/11 world.
