Ian McShane may join Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Ian McShane (Deadwood, Coraline, TV’s Kings) is in talks to play the villain Blackbeard in the Rob Marshall-directed Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth installment of Disney’s successful pirate franchise, according to HeatVisionBlog.

If confirmed, McShane will join Johnny Depp, who returns as Captain Jack Sparrow, along with Penelope Cruz, in a tale that centers on the Fountain of Youth.

Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the sequel from a script by Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot, the duo responsible for the first three films’ screenplays.
