TNT nabs Luc Besson’s upcoming television show Artificial Intelligence

TNT has nabbed rights to Luc Besson and EuropaCorp TV USA’s action television show Artificial Intelligence. The show will be penned by Besson, along with Bill Wheeler. The pair will also executive produce the series. AI marks the first time Besson has written a television series for the US market. The cult favorite director is considering directing the pilot as well.

In Artificial Intelligence, an AI entity escapes its laboratory confinement and begins a methodical quest to carry out mysterious plans. The creator of the AI assembles a team of specialists to discern its
objective, while simultaneously working to counter its rapid maneuvers and warn the world of imminent dangers.

Also serving as EP’s on AI are Matthew Gross (Body of Proof, Sons of Liberty, upcoming Taken TV series), Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros. The project is a co-production between EuropaCorp TV USA and TNT Studios.

Bill Wheeler’s other upcoming projects include Queen of Katwe, starring David Oleyowo and Lupita N’yongo which Disney will release next year, and DreamWorks Ghost in the Shell film adaptation directed by Rupert Sanders and starring Scarlett Johanssen and Sam Riley, also expected in theaters in 2017. Most recently, Wheeler and his brother Tom wrote the upcoming Lego franchise Ninjago².
