Sony has released the first trailer for The Equalizer starring Denzel Washington and Chloe Grace Moretz. The upcoming thriller, which also stars Melissa Leo and was directed by Training Day’s Antoine Fuqua, is based on the 1980′s CBS show of the same name.
In The Equalizer Washington plays a reluctant vigilante with special ops skills, who makes enemies with the Russian Mafia after coming to the rescue of a young girl in trouble (Moretz).
The TV series The Equalizer starred Edward Woodward and ran on CBS for four seasons from 1985-1989. The TV show is considered a cult classic and had both a memorable score and tag line that read “Odds against you? Need help? Call the Equalizer.”
The Equalizer is scheduled to hit theaters on September 26th, 2014. Check out the trailer, below.
