Check out this new behind the scenes look at Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Fox has revealed a new behind-the-scenes video for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, highlighting the special effects that went into creating the movie. Take an inside look of the transformation from actor to ape in the side-by-side comparison video below, called “Ape Evolution.” Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on July 11, 2014, in 3D.

Directed by Matt Reeves, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was written by Mark Bomback, Rich Jaffa and Amanda Silver, based characters created by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The film stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smith-McPhee, Enrique Murciano and Kirk Acevedo.

In the films, a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
