Tri-Star Pictures hosted a red carpet screening of the upcoming Sparkle remake at the Tribeca Grand Hotel in Soho. The cast attended the event, including Jordin Sparks, Mike Epps, Carmen Ejogo, Derek Luke, Tika Sumpter, Omari Hardwick and executive producer Debra Martin Chase. A slew of celebrities hit the carpet as well, including Russell Simmons, Gabby Sidibe, Olympic medalist Cullen Jones, Steven Baldwin, Valerie Simpson, June Ambrose, Rutina Wesley, S. Epatha Merkerson, Q Parker, Adrienne Bailon and pop/R&B newcomer Austin Brown.

And speaking of Austin Brown, the “Backpack Kids” singer and son of Rebbie Jackson, took the stage at Santos Party House after the Sparkle premiere to perform at the BET Music Matters Showcase.

Sparkle hits theaters this Friday, August 17th.
