Lalo Schifrin, Robert Vaughn, Bullitt screening and more to highlight this week’s tribute to Cult Cinema Icon Steve McQueen

Yesterday, November 7th, marked 30 years since Steve McQueen’s untimely passing at age 50. In tribute to the Cult Cinema Icon, Jules Verne Festival creators Jean-Christophe Jeauffre and Frederic Dieudonne have announced The Official 30th Anniversary Tribute Events to Steve McQueen.

The event kicked-off yesterday at 11AM on Hollywood Blvd., four days before the Official Tribute event, the Steve McQueen Motor Parade, which will be led by Chad McQueen, on the commemorative anniversary of his father Steve McQueen’s passing. The parade was organized with the City of Los Angeles and will benefit the Jules Verne Educational Program, which serves the children of Los Angeles.

The Parade will start this Thursday, November 11th, at 11AM, at the intersection of Cole Avenue and Fountain, run through Cahuenga and Hollywood Blvd., and end at the intersection of Highland and Santa Monica Blvd., where Route 66 ends and where the Square to be named after Steve McQueen will be inaugurated by Councilmember Tom LaBonge and Jules Verne Festival founders Jean-Christophe Jeauffre and Frederic Dieudonne.

Jules Verne Fest will welcome to the stage the McQueen family, the cast of Bullitt and special guest stars.
His son Chad McQueen will accept the Jules Verne Légendaire Award to Steve McQueen on his behalf. Celebrities confirmed in attendance: Steve McQueen’s grandson Steven R. McQueen, actress and co-star Jacqueline Bisset, actor and co-star Robert Vaughn, music composer Lalo Schifrin, Steve’s first wife Neile Adams and many more.

Steve McQueen would have been 80 years old yesterday. The heartfelt celebration will commemorate the King of Cool with a red carpet event, a Jules Verne Légendaire Award Presentation and a special screening of the iconic crime thriller Bullitt.

Steve McQueen (1930-1980) is best known for his roles in The Magnificent Seven, Bullitt, The Great Escape, Papillon and The Towering Inferno.
