Paper-thin rechargeable video player to be inserted into upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly Magazine

According to a report on CNET, CBS will include a super-thin video player in the September 18th print edition of Entertainment Weekly mailed to subscribers in the Los Angeles and New York areas. It will play video clips advertising the new shows NCIS: Los Angeles, Accidentally on Purpose, The Good Wife and Three Rivers, and the returning comedies How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory.

There’s no need to plug the magazine into an outlet or attach it to a set-top disc player, and the device can be recharged via a mini-USB jack in the back. The screen is 2.7 millimeters thick, has a 320×240 resolution, and a battery that lasts for 65 to 70 minutes. The screen, which uses thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT LCD) technology, is made rigid by protective polycarbonate.
