A new Inglourious Basterds poster to consider before watching the film tomorrow night

Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds will be in theaters tomorrow. But for folks in Austin, Texas, the party’s already begun, with a regional premiere at the famous Alamo Drafthouse. Their tee design shop Mondo Tees, commissioned artist Tyler Stout to create the beautiful movie poster below, which are unfortunately sold out. But it’s just incredible, in this former illustrator’s opinion.

In Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as “The Basterds” are recruited to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing any Nazi they can get their hands on. The murderous crew soon meet a French-Jewish teenage girl who runs a movie theater in Paris, that will premiere one of Hitler’s famous propaganda films, where they decide to plan an ambush of the leaders of the Third Reich.
