Gerard Butler is no Law Abiding Citizen in this new trailer with Jamie Foxx

Overture has released the first trailer for the crime thriller Law Abiding Citizen, which tells the story of a brilliant sociopath (played by Gerard Butler) who orchestrates a series of high-profile murders that grip the city of Philadelphia – all from inside his jail cell – and the prosecutor (Jamie Foxx) assigned to his case who realizes he is the only one who can end the reign of terror.

Law Abiding Citizen is directed by F. Gary Gray from a script by Kurt Wimmer (director of the cult sci-fi film Equilibrium), and also stars Michael Gambon, Leslie Bibb, Josh Stewart, Regina Hall, Bruce McGill, Christian Stolte, Viola Davis, Colm Meaney, Michael Kelly, Gregory Itzin and Michael Irby.

Law Abiding Citizen will be in theaters on October 16, 2009.
