The first images from M. Night Shyamalan’s Last Airbender adaptation

The first images from M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming The Last Airbender, were placed online by USA Today. According to the report, the live-action adaptation is the first of a planned trilogy.

This image features 12 year old Noah Ringer, who plays the lead character Aang, and there is also another of Dev Patel (from Slumdog Millionaire) as the evil Zuko. The story revolves around the adventures of the successor to a long line of Avatars who must put aside his reckless ways, in order to stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.

The Last Airbender, based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series, is currently shooting in Philadelphia for a July 2, 2010, release date.
