Image Entertainment, a leading independent licensee, producer and distributor of home entertainment programming in North America, announced today it will distribute the THINKFilm release Taxi to the Dark Side, which won an Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary at the 80th annual Oscar telecast on February 24.
Currently in theaters, the film is theatrically distributed by THINKFilm. Image Entertainment will distribute the film on DVD, broadcast and digital media.
“’Taxi to the Dark Side’ was an eagerly sought-after title even before it received an Oscar,” said Steven DeMille, senior vice president of Image Entertainment, Inc. “Its theatrical distribution, combined with heightened interest following the Oscars, will make it a strong pre-holiday seller at retail outlets across the country.”
From the director of “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room,” Alex Gibney’s “Taxi to the Dark Side” is a gripping investigation into the reckless abuse of power by the Bush administration. By probing the homicide of an innocent taxi driver at the Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan, the film exposes a worldwide policy of detention and interrogation that condones torture and the abrogation of human rights. The film was written, produced, directed and narrated by Gibney.
The film is slated for DVD release on September 30.
