Young Han Solo revealed for 2018 Star Wars spinoff prequel

Film directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller announced at Star Wars Celebration Europe today, that young actor Alden Ehrenreich will play Han Solo in Lucasfilm’s 2018 spinoff prequel movie. According to various online reports, the filmmakers said that they auditioned more than 3,000 actors for the role, before settling on Ehrenreich.

Variety reports that filmmaker Rian Johnson also joined the directing pair on stage during the panel, accompanied by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, all discussing the future of the Star Wars at the ExCel Centre. As a surprise for fans, stars John Boyega, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher made unscheduled appearances during the event.
