Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski takes on the Tom Cruise sci-fi thriller Oblivion for Universal Pictures and a trailer has been released for the film, which hits theaters on April 19, 2013. In addition to Cruise, Oblivion also stars Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Zoe Bell, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Melissa Leo, Andrea Riseborough, Catherine Kim Poon, James Rawlings and Jaylen Moore.
According to reports, Oblivion began as an 8-page treatment written by Joseph Kosinski which was pitched in 2007 to Barry Levine and Jesse Berger at Radical Publishing as a graphic novel. The project was subsequently developed into an illustrated novella and is being held for release to coincide with the film release.
