Ridley Scott nabs Michael Fassbender for sci-fi thriller Prometheus

Michael Fassbender is in negotiations to star in Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Prometheus for 20th Century Fox, according to Variety and THR. Fassbender was considering several roles, including Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman, but is circling the role of an android in Scott’s Prometheus, which was originally set to be a prequel to his 1979 sci-fi classic Alien.

Prometheus also stars Noomi Rapace, and has been moved from a March 9th release date to June 8th, 2012.

Cowboys & Aliens scriptwriter Damon Lindelof is rewriting Jon Spaihts’ (The Darkest Hour) original script, along with Scott.

Fassbender has a batch of films slated for release this year, including X-Men: First Class, Haywire, Jane Eyre, and Shame.
