Transformers director Michael Bay producing new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Depending on the type of films you like, you’re either happy or cringing about this one. Paramount and Nickelodeon have tapped Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form to produce a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action film, according to Deadline. Producers will start meeting writers in the next few weeks.

According to the report, on May 17th Bay also started production on Transformers 3, and is looking at actress Rosie Huntington-Whitely to replace Megan Fox as love interest for star Shia LaBeouf.

The new TNMT is an outgrowth of the acquisition made by Nick last October for global rights to the entire Turtles franchise. Around the same time, Paramount made a first look deal with the Platinum Dunes, who will create genre film projects for the studio. Another project in that pipeline is a Rob Cohen-directed remake of the cult classic Fright Night.
