4K film scanning capability comes to Blackmagic

Blackmagic Design Singapore today announced that it has upgraded its post-production workflow with the installation of a Lasergraphics Director 4K film scanning system. The installation adds 4K scanning capability and increased 2K scanning capacity to Blackmagic’s two existing Director Film Scanners, significantly enhancing the company’s post production workflow and deliverables.

The Director is the fastest pin registered film scanner in the world, scanning 35mm HD and full aperture 2K at 9.2 fps and 6.8 fps, respectively. For 4K scanning, the Director utilizes a native 4K CCD sensor to scan at 1 fps in full aperture 4K.
