Fighting trailer pounds the net

The new trailer for New York underground fighting flick Fighting is online. The film stars Channing Tatum as a street hustler who gets introduced to the world world of street fighting by Oscar nominee Terrence Howard. Things start to get dicey for the two, as Tatum fights his way to the top of the heap, and meets the sexy Zulay Valez (played by Zulay Henao).

Fighting also stars Brian J. White as one of the kings of the street fighting game, along with Luis Guzmán, Quinton Aaron, David Barroso, Aaron Behr and Roger Guenveur Smith.

The film will be in theaters on April 24th 2009, and is being distributed by former Universal genre studio Rogue Pictures.

Fighting was co-written and directed by Dito Montiel, who helmed the cult indie crime drama A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, which was based on a book Montiel wrote about his life growing up in a tough Queens, New York neighborhood, in the 1980s. Channing Tatum actually appeared in “Saints” as well, playing one of his childhood friends.
