According to Collider.com, Hideo Kojima has been discussing plans to turn his Metal Gear Solid espionage game, into a feature film. Some of you may already know that Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium, Ultraviolet) is attached to direct the film, however plot details have been a closely guarded secret.

Kojima expects to play a large role in the making of the film, and is planning to release a video game to coincide the release of the film.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots spent weeks at the bestseller list, this past summer, which is probably part of the reason Sony is moving ahead with the film now. The plot of the most recent game takes place in the near future, where nations of the world rely on private military companies to fight their battles. When a renegade soldier emerges as the head of a potent coalition of mercenary powers, an aging Solid Snake returns to save the world.
