The Canadian theatrical debut of the live-action Death Note movie, based on the popular manga and animated series, will screen as a special event in 60 Cineplex Entertainment and Empire Theatre locations across Canada on Monday, September 15, 2008.

A special DVD advance ticket bundle has been added that will go on-sale next week. It includes a movie ticket to the theatrical screening, along with the DVD of the live action film (the DVD can also be purchased on-site immediately following the screening).

Death Note follows Light Yagami, an ace student with great prospects, who finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by rogue Shinigami death god Ryuk. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and Light vows to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals mysteriously begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective simply named “L” to investigate, and he is soon hot on the trail of Light, who must re-evaluate his once-noble goal.
