After Olympics Closing Ceremony this Sunday, Zhang Yimou to make war film

Zhang Yimou goes from artful creation to utter destruction. Variety and the Beijing News recently reported that director Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers), fresh off of his stunning Opening Ceremony achievement for the Olympic Games, and apparently prepping a spectacular follow up for this Sunday’s Closing Ceremonies, is already thinking about his next project, which is expected to be a Asian war film.

The next project will involve work with Yimou’s long-term collaborator Zhang Weiping. Zhang has focused on the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games and has not worked on a film project for two years, ever since Curse of the Golden Flower.

He is apparently looking at a number of potential projects, including one with Jackie Chan.
