Superman Film Update

The web site BlueTights.net will be the official Blog for Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns with production diaries from Sydney, Australia.

I just took a peek, and while the design leaves much to be desired, it’s filled with Quicktime videos, words from the crew, fan created posters and more. The current feature is a welcome video from Singer, as he starts production in Sydney.

This project has been in the works for years, but now, with Bryan Singer on board, it should be a quality film. With his writing team from X2 hammering out the most epic Superman story ever told on film, (according to the site) the new return of Superman is set to stun audiences in the summer of 2006.

In this semi-sequel to the first two Superman movies, the classic hero returns to Earth after having been missing for six long years. What he finds astounds him – the world he knew has changed for the worse. In his absence, the forces of evil have regrouped like never before. Even Lex Luthor, once an outcast, has risen to the heights of power in Metropolis. And when an old enemy from Krypton reappears, Superman must fight his neverending battle like never before, amidst a world that has forgotten what it’s like to have a hero.

The movie stars Stephen Bender as Young Clark Kent, Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane, Sam Huntington as Jimmy Olsen, James Karen as Ben Hubbard, Hugh Laurie as Perry White, James Marsden as Richard White, Kal Penn as Stanford, Brandon Routh as Superman/Clark Kent, Eva Marie Saint as Martha Kent and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor.

The Release date for Superman Returns is set for June 30, 2006.
