Gary Oldman to join sci-fi thriller Book of Eli

Gary Oldman is in talks to star with Denzel Washington in The Book of Eli, the action thriller from Warner Bros. and Alcon. Albert and Allen Hughes are directing. This according to a story by The Hollywood Reporter.

The script has been developed by Gary Whitta and Anthony Peckham, and centers on a lone hero named Eli (played by Washington), who must fight his way across the wasteland of a near-future America, while protecting a sacred book that may hold the key to saving humanity.

Oldman will apparently play Carnegie, the head of a makeshift town lacking standard necessities, services, and laws, who is determined to take possession of the book Eli is protecting.
