Fans and cast celebrate 500th episode of The Simpsons |

In celebration of the 500th episode of the Simpsons which will air Sunday, February 19th, FOX held a shindig to kick off their Simpsons Continuous Episode Viewing Contest in Hollywood. Executive Producer Al Jean, and voice actors Yeardly Smith (Lisa) and Nancy Cartwright (Bart) were on-hand for the commencement and cheer on the contestants. While there I had the opportunity to hear Yeardly and Nancy ply their trade with a few choice phrases from the show and I was also able to pry some information from Al Jean on upcoming guests which will include Steve Carell, Zooey Deschanel and Lady Gaga.

Check out the photos including those of the contestants on line to enter the viewing contest tent and you might spot the Hollywood Walk of Fame cosplay actor that’s been dressing as Superman for many years. He even resembles Christopher Reeve. The contest is expected to run through the weekend and beat the previous Guinness record held at 86 hours and 20 minutes for a FOX 24 marathon held on the very same spot a few years back. Of course there are more than 200 hours worth of episodes for the Simpsons so these contestants may be here for a week.
