DreamWorks has won a bidding war for an untitled buddy cop comedy pitch, with Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer attached to helm, according to THR.

Universal Pictures, Fox and Warner Bros. were also involved in the bidding over the weekend.

Mike Arnold and Chris Poole – the pair who wrote the upcoming Beaujolais, which is described as a redneck action-adventure with a protagonist the likes of Austin Powers or Ace Ventura – are writing the project, which is based on an idea by Fleischer. Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller will produce the project with Zombieland producer Gavin Polone.

Zombieland was well received both critically and commercially, but Fleischer choose an unconventional path, having had yet to choose his next project. This despite being courted by every major studio and producer.

Other options on the director’s plate include 30 Minutes or Less, a comedy in which Danny McBride is negotiations to star in. Acording to the report, Tom Cruise even courted the in-demand action director for Mission: Impossible IV.
