New cast member confirmed for Robert Rodriguez’ Predators reboot

Robert Rodriguez recently revealed the cast for his upcoming Predators reboot film, which includes the likes of Danny Trejo, Adrien Brody and Topher Grace. Well this weekend, actor Derek Mears, who played Jason Voorhees in the most recent Friday the 13th, confirmed to DreadCentral that he will also be appearing in the film.

“People were talking for a couple of weeks, but I wasn’t able to confirm…I kept assuring the filmmakers that I was not the leak. Now it’s out there, but I’m still not saying who I play.”

Based on his previous work, the assumption is that he’ll portray one of the Predator warriors in the new film.

In Predators, a group of humans come across an American who has been hiding from the creatures for years and is the one who explains what is going on. According to reports, producer Rodriguez is hoping to lure Arnold Schwarzenegger back to the franchise for that role, who would apparently still be trapped in the jungle since his first encounter with one of the Predator race. The humans will then at some point be kidnapped by the Predators, and taken to the alien creatures’ home planet to be hunted for sport.

Predators will be directed by Nimrod Antal (Vacancy, Armored) and is scheduled to hit theaters on July, 2010.
