Paramount and producers Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams have chosen Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec to write the script for the newly revived Mission Impossible 4 project, according to Variety.

Applebaum and Nemec spent four seasons with Abrams as co-exec producers of the spy show Alias, and will pen M:I 4 based on a story Abrams co-wrote with them.

While Cruise is only committed to produce the new film with Abrams to this point, reports say that his character, Ethan Hunt, will likely appear in the movie, which is looking to be completed for a 2011 release.

The last film in the series, Mission: Impossible III, also starred Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ving Rhames, Billy Crudup, Michelle Monaghan, Laurence Fishburne, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Keri Russell, Maggie Q, Simon Pegg and Eddie Marsan.
