New website launches in anticipation of Free Comic Book Day

Saturday, May 2nd, is drawing closer and the website for Free Comic Book Day has been updated with a snazzy new design and loaded with info to help you make the most of the yearly event. This year’s giveaway launches on the heals of the latest X-Men film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I just watched a new trailer for the film attached to Knowing, and it’s looking better and better.

The new site includes these great features:

  • Gold & Silver Comic Books: See the comics with 4-page previews!
  • The official FCBD Shop Locator: Find a participating shop near you.
  • Creator signings and character appearances: Who’s where!
  • Cool FCBD09 merchandise.
  • FAQs, downloads, and more.

DC Comics has announced that its Free Comic Book Day 2009 offering, Blackest Night #0, will feature all-new content that is a prelude to the Blackest Night summer crossover storyline. Featuring a story by writer Geoff Johns, Blackest Night #0 is illustrated by the art teams of Ivan Reis & Oclair Albert and Doug Mahnke & Christian Alamy. The issue also has an introductory text page by Johns that sets the stage for new readers. It’s all wrapped up in an explosive cover by Ivan Reis.
