Comic series Sleeper to hit big screen

Writer Brad Ingelsby will pen a script for the film adaptation of the comic book series Sleeper for Warner Bros., reports Screenhead.

Originally created by Ed Brubaker, the series told the story of an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact made him impervious to pain. He was also able to pass on his ability to others through skin contact.

According to the story, Tom Cruise has expressed interest in this project. Sam Raimi and Josh Donen are producing the film, but no word on if Raimi will direct or not.

Of course, this project is completely separate from Sleeper, starring WWE wrestling legend Raven and Bruce Hopkins (CLICK HERE to see the r-rated trailer), which is due out in 2009.
