Philip K. Dick Story is Next

Lee Tamahori, director of the eye-opening film Once Were Warriors, will be working on the Science Fiction action triller Next, starring Nicolas Cage and Julianne Moore.

The film is based on a Philip K. Dick short story titled The Golden Man, about a man who can see into his own future has to avoid capture by a government organization and win the love of a woman who will be the mother of his child.

The film is currently in pre-production, and is scheduled to start lensing in the second half of 2005.

It looks like Next is a definite go, because Sony Pictures sent me a release date of December 8, 2006 for the film.

Nicolas Cage will soon be seen in the Weather Man. He is also currently filming Lord of War, where he plays an arms dealer, that confronts the morality of his work as he is being chased by an Interpol agent. He will also soon play a comic book hero in Ghost Rider.

Aside from Once Were Warriors, Lee Tamahori also directed Die Another Day and the upcoming XXX: State of the Union. He is also currently film The Guide, in which Halle Berry plays a woman who uses psychic powers and computer skills to help people in trouble disappear.
