Nakata Directing Entity Remake

Hideo Nakata, the director who is wrapping up work on the Ring Part 2, is taking on helming duties for the remake of the Entity. Nakata will begin work on the Fox Searchlight project, with a reported budget of $15 million, after he soon as he completes his work on the Ring.

The original 1981 film told dramatized the actual events surrounding a woman (played by Barbara Hershey) who was convinced that she was being repeatedly molested and raped by an paranormal force, who enlists the services of a parapsychologist to investigate her situation. The original also starred Ron Silver, David Labiosa and Jacqueline Brooks.

The updated script was written by newcomer David DiGilio, who also wrote the upcoming Antarctica. It is scheduled for release in 2006.
