Die Hard writer launches short film competition

Creative collaboration platform Talenthouse has partnered with producer and screenwriter Steven E. de Souza to provide aspiring filmmakers an opportunity to work with one of the most renowned screenwriters in cinema history.

De Souza, whose films have earned over $2 billion at the worldwide box office, with blockbusters such as Die Hard, 48hrs, Commando, The Running Man, Ricochet and Lara Croft Tomb Raider, is inviting aspiring filmmakers to take part in a new creative invite.

He’s asking filmmakers the world over to produce their own short films that will be showcased as part of his suspense series Unknown Sender, which was a triple honoree at the 2009 Webby Awards for Best Writing, Best Dramatic Series, and Best Individual Performance (by Timothy Dalton).

To be considered for this opportunity, filmmakers are asked to select one of four scripts provided, produce their episode based on the script and submit the finished film to Talenthouse. Scripts used for the episodes were previously selected by Steven E. de Souza through a script writing competition.

The selected filmmakers will receive full credit, wide exposure through the release on StrikeTV and unknownsender.com, their share of ad revenue generated on StrikeTV and constructive feedback of their film from De Souza himself. The ten runner-ups will receive a signed copy of the Die Hard DVD collection plus autographed copies of Steven E. de Souza’s graphic novel re-boot of Will Eisner’s Sheena, Queen of the Jungle.
