Charles takes on the Transformers

Part 2 of the popular toys of Hasbro series could have been billed as “Less than meets the eye.” Shia and Megan return, along with Optimus and his crew to do battle with Mega and his metal mates. This time around the flick sets out to explain in greater detail how the war began.

Now, maybe it was just me but I had a hard time following the fight scenes with all the newly added machines, I couldn’t tell who was who and didn’t have that problem with the first flick. I was confused like a mug!

They also added an annoying roommate/sidekick for Shia and dude just wasn’t funny, nor were his lines funny. It just didn’t work. If they were gonna “go there” they should’ve enlisted the likes of a Mike Epps, who could ad lib and joke about getting killed a LOT better than this dude. The sad thing was to see a great actor like John Turturro interact with this annoying dude for a portion of the movie and that made it even worse.

The MAJOR issue I had was with the Twins – a pair of bumbling, irritating, young, “mid-level” Autobots that tagged along with the heroes. It was way too obvious that they were trying to make them “Black” with all the slang and lingo they were rambling off, and it was kind of embarrassing and humiliating to say the least. They could’ve left that out of the flick and no one would’ve noticed nor cared.

So, is their bang worth your buck? Just barely.
