Chris Pine – who just came off a star-making performance in Star Trek – is in negotiations to star opposite Denzel Washington in Fox’s action thriller Unstoppable, which Tony Scott is directing, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Unstoppable revolves around an experienced train engineer (Washington) about to be laid off because of company cutbacks and the young conductor hired to replace him (Pine). They both find themselves in a race against time to stop a half-mile-long, unmanned freight train carrying enough combustible liquids and poisonous gas to wipe out a nearby city.
Pine is fielding for sci-fi tent-poles including Green Lantern, along with comedies like Friends With Enemies.
