Now that JOHN SINGLETON has wrapped principle photography on HUSTLE & FLOW, all indications are that he will begin working in earnest on the LUKE CAGE movie next. The comic book adaptation had been in development by Marvel Studios CEO AVI ARAD and Original Films’ NEAL MORITZ. The current screenplay was written by BEN RAMSEY, who is also preparing the DRAGONBALL Z screenplay.

The LUKE CAGE comic focused on a former gang member that’s framed for a crime he didn’t commit. While serving time in prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him superstrength and bulletproof skin. Using his newfound powers, LUKE CAGE escapes from prison and becomes a hero for hire. Now he’s being hunted by both the federal authorities and those who want to exploit his powers.
