NYC and Seattle are Where the Wild Things Are

Warners Brothers is holding open castings around the country right now for the main lead in a film version of a favorite childrens’ book of mine… Where the Wild Things Are.

Where the Wild Things Are is the story of Max, who one evening plays around his home in a wolf costume. As punishment, his mother sends him to bed without supper. In his room, a mysterious, wild forest grows out of his imagination, and Max takes a journey to the land of the Wild Things. They are fearsome-looking monsters, but Max conquers them with a scary look and he is made the King of the Wild Things. However, he soon finds himself lonely and homesick.

The New York City and Seattle castings for the film will be held on July 8, 2006.

Among the stars already lending at least their voices to the project, are Benicio Del Toro, Forest Whitaker, Michelle Williams, Tom Noonan and Catherine O’Hara. Where The Wild Things Are is currently due to hit theaters in May 2008.

Presented by Warner Brothers, in association with Legendary Pictures, Where The Wild Things Are is a Playtone/Wild Things Production of a Spike Jonze film. Spike Jonze is directing the film from a screenplay by himself and Dave Eggers. The screen story is by Michael Goldenberg, Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers, based on the classic book by Maurice Sendak. The film is being produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman, Maurice Sendak and John Carls. The executive producers are Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni.
