Tears of Steel is a 12-minute sci-fi short film from the Blender Institute in Amsterdam. The effects are created using Blender, a free, open source 3D content creation suite. If you’re wondering exactly what goes into making films like Tears of Steel, its creators have released the film, along with all of its production files, under a Creative Commons license for other artists to remix and reuse.
Also, for about $44, a DVD boxed set with both NTSC and PAL versions of Tears of Steel, all of the files used to create it, and nine hours of tutorials and walkthroughs, is now available for purchase HERE.
