The great photo I didn’t take

I’m currently sorting through my still photos from Grandmaster Ronald Duncan’s 21st Cross-Training Seminar, which took place a few weeks ago. During the seminar, we also took more than 3 hours of video. But this photo of O’Sensei Felix Vazquez stood out to me. Why? First, because I thought it was a nice portrait. But also because there’s no way I could have taken it! Why? Because I’m in it (in the background on the left). Then I remembered that while I was taking video with a SONY Bloggie camcorder, I invited Professor Duncan’s son, Shihan Gregory Duncan, to take some shots with my NIKON D7000. A little retouching later and here it is, a piece of an historic event documented.

You can’t repeat moments like this.
