Leading up to the highly anticipated season two premiere of AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead, the network is launching a six-episode Walking Dead webisode series at amctv.com.

The webisodes will give fans the opportunity to explore the back story of Hannah (Lilli Birdsell), better known as “Bicycle Girl,” the infamous zombie from season one, who was shot by Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in the pilot episode and who is one of the most celebrated “walkers” from last season. Fans will learn about Hannah’s life before the apocalypse, her struggle to survive and protect her family as the world begins to fall apart, and her ultimate demise into zombie-hood.

The web series is produced by Generate, conceived and directed by The Walking Dead Co-Executive Producer Greg Nicotero, with teleplay by John Esposito.

All six webisodes debut next Monday, October 3rd, at 2pm on amctv.com

The second season of The Walking Dead premieres with a special 90-minute episode on Sunday, October 16th at 9pm, with six one-hour episodes in the weeks following. The final six episodes of the season will begin on Sunday, February 12th, 2012 at 9pm.

I previously reported that the cast and creators behind the already cult classic TV series will return to New York Comic-Con for the 2011 edition. The Walking Dead panel takes place on Saturday, October 15th, starting at 5:15 pm, in the IGN Theater at Jacob Javits Center.

Keep checking FilmFetish.com, as we’ll be hosting a very special Walking Dead Season One contest, that will include free Special Edition Blu-rays of The Walking Dead: Season One AND free copies of The Walking Dead Chronicles by Paul Ruditis.

Based on Robert Kirkman’s hugely successful and popular comic book series, The Walking Dead tells the story of the weeks and months that follow after a zombie apocalypse. The cult television series follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. Jon Bernthal plays Shane Walsh, Rick’s sheriff’s department partner before the apocalypse, and Sarah Wayne Callies is Rick’s wife, Lori Grimes. Additional cast include: Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Jeffrey DeMunn, Chandler Riggs, Iron E. Singleton and Melissa McBride.
