Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess all to find The Way Back

Director Peter Weir (Witness, The Truman Show) will being working with Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess and Saoirse Ronan, on his next film, The Way Back. All are in final negotiations to star in the fact-based story of a group of soldiers who engineered an escape from a Siberian gulag in 1940.

Weir also wrote the script, which is based on a memoir by Slavomir Rawicz. Farrell is set to play a tough, tattooed Russian; Harris an American; and Sturgess a young Polish inmate. Ronan will play a Russian on the run who meets up with the escapees.

Weir’s last project was Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, with Russell Crowe.

Filming is scheduled to begin this March in Bulgaria.
