Director Wim Wenders will appear in person this Friday for a book signing beginning at 7:15 pm, and then for a Q&A at the 7:35pm screening of his collaborative 3D project Pina. Wenders will also give an introduction to the film at 10:00pm show. Wenders will also appear on Saturday, January 7th, for a Q&A at 2:50pm screening of Pina, and will introduce 5:10pm show.
Wenders’s (Wings of Desire, Buena Vista Social Club) foray into 3D began as a collaboration with choreographer Pina Bausch, an attempt to re-imagine her dance on the big screen. When Bausch died suddenly in 2009, Wenders continued with the project, turning it into a moving tribute to her groundbreaking work with the Tanztheater Wuppertal ensemble. With longtime members of the troupe re-creating classic pieces, Pina delivers an exhilarating journey deep into Bausch’s world.
Pina was an Official Selection at the Berlin, Telluride, Toronto and New York Film Festivals.
