Black Dynamite comic and animated series to preview at New York Comic-Con 2010

New York Comic-Con 2010 is just around the corner, and I’ve heard surprisingly little so far surrounding the film and TV-related events that will take place during the 3-day fan fest. So we were very excited when Black Dynamite director Scott Sanders sent in info on the Black Dynamite panel that will take place on Saturday, October 9th, which will be immediately followed by a special screening of Black Dynamite.

The big news on the Black Dynamite front is that indie publisher Ape Entertainment is publishing the Black Dynamite comic, which features a story by Michael Jai White, Byron Minns, and Scott Sanders. The one-shot Black Dynamite: Slave Island follows our hero as he seeks to put an end to a mysterious island, where an insidious 19th century legacy of “The Man” still exists.

Scott also confirmed to us that he’s hard at work on Black Dynamite: The Animated Series, which is set to air on Adult Swim. The show is Executive Produced by The Boondocks’ Carl Jones.

All panel attendees will receive their very own Black Dynamite: Slave Island preview book, written by Brian Ash (The Boondocks), with inks by Jun LoFamia and featuring a special edition sketch cover by Ed Laroche.

Again, the panel and screening will take place on Saturday, October 9th. The screening begins at 8PM, with the panel directly preceding.

New York Comic-Con takes place from October 8 – 10, 2010 at Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City. We’re hoping to hear about some great previews and premieres (a premiere for The Walking Dead would be cool)… But, we haven’t heard anything yet, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, take a look at the preview art below for Black Dynamite: Slave Island.
