Trion Worlds and DC Comics/WildStorm Productions welcome comic fans to a pair of war-ravaged worlds with two miniseries based on the upcoming massively multiplayer online games, Rift: Planes of Telara and End of Nations. Diving deep into the lore behind the games in four monthly issues beginning this fall, the comics will explore the events and characters that will shape the main storylines of each game.

The special limited edition “Issue Zero” comics can only be found at the DC Comics booth during Comic-Con International, held in San Diego July 21-25. First issues of both series are scheduled to hit store shelves this fall, while the games will debut in 2011.

“Graphic novels are the perfect medium for exposing the deeper facets of these intricate worlds,” said Scott Hartsman, chief creative officer, Trion Worlds. “We’ve created two universes, each with its own rich history. Every character, faction, and locale has a tale to tell, and with the help of WildStorm’s talented team, we can relate those stories in a truly meaningful way.”

Written by Ricardo Sanchez (Resident Evil, Aion, Nier), Telara Chronicles features interior art by Pop Mhan (World of Warcraft, Batgirl, Bionicle) and cover art by Drew Johnson (Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Fantastic Four). Sanchez also assumes writing duties for End of Nations, with cover art by Chris Sprouse (Batman, Human Target, Deathblow) and interior art by Yvel Guichet (Aquaman, Harley Quinn, JLA).

Both the massively multiplayer online game, Rift: Planes of Telara, and the comic, Telara Chronicles, are set in a world torn asunder by elemental rifts that unleash powerful planar forces, threatening Telara’s very existence. Amid spreading darkness and mayhem, two factions – the Guardians and the Defiant – battle to understand and perhaps control the awesome power surging through these tears in the fabric of reality. The WildStorm series follows the story of Asha Catari, a plane-touched warrior with magical abilities, as she ventures in search of answers and adventure.

End of Nations gives readers a possible glimpse into everyday life after a worldwide economic collapse in the not-too-distant future. The Order of Nations, a totalitarian global regime, has assumed control of every world government, bringing peace and stability at the cost of personal freedom. The comic tells the story of a group of resistance fighters who are determined to bring the fight directly to the Order of Nations and end its stifling reign for good.
