June 2009 marks the 30th anniversary of the first in Amnesty International’s pioneering Secret Policeman’s Ball series of benefit shows. The Secret Policeman’s Film Festival celebrates three decades of performances. It presents rare versions of specials and documentaries that chronicled the shows, including two predecessor events that led directly to the first Ball. The screenings will include some of the original U.K. theatrical versions never released in the U.S. and versions not currently available on VHS or DVD.
