The aim of SKIP CITY is to promote this rapidly evolving visual art industry, but with digital as a key word. The SKIP CITY facility itself features an HD studio, an audio-visual hall, HD editing rooms and MA rooms, and everything from shooting to screening digital cinema is possible.
One of the more generous film festivals when it comes to filmmaker hospitality, SKIP CITY bears the cost of air travel and accommodation for one filmmaker from each of the selected films. Market screenings (especially for Japanese distributors) are held during the event, introducing new films and filmmakers from the festival into the Japanese market. In addition, SKIP CITY has honored many of the up-and-coming artists of the past few years, including Lone Scherfig, Susanne Bier, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, and Miranda July.
