Birmingham SHOUT was created to celebrate the gay and lesbian experience in the Magic City by providing a sense of community through film, to enrich and entertain the public with programming that offers diverse perspectives on the GLBT experience, and to meet the increasing demand for alternative/indie films in the Birmingham area.
Birmingham SHOUT is the sister festival of the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival, one of the fastest growing film festivals in the country, widely praised for its treatment of filmmakers as well as its attention to detail. SHOUT works hand-in-hand with Sidewalk to make sure that no stone is left unturned when it comes to bringing quality cinema to Alabama audiences.
