Rooftop Films

Rooftop Films hosts a series of mostly-outdoor summer movie screenings, featuring independent and cult cinema. Many times these screenings are accompanied by live performances performed by indie music bands. The Rooftop Films organization itself is a non-profit whose stated mission is to engage and inspire New York City residents by showcasing the work of emerging filmmakers and musicians. In addition to their annual Summer Series – which takes place at 17 outdoor venues every weekend throughout the summer – Rooftop provides grants to filmmakers, rents equipment at low-cost to artists and non-profits, and supports film screenings citywide with the Rooftop Films Community Fund.
